Between the Delaware Canal and the Delaware River, the Landmark Towns are filled with opportunities for waterfront dining. There is something relaxing about watching the water flowing by as you enjoy a delicious meal and good company. Let’s travel downstream and explore the variety of choices for waterfront dining on the canal and river.
The Landing has been a favorite for many years with its outdoor terrace that overlooks the Delaware River and the Free Bridge to Lambertville. Open every day from 11 am to 10 pm with a seasonally changing menu, this perennial favorite is still worth a visit.
Tucked into a quiet alley off of Main Street, C’est La Vie French Bakery and Café is a local favorite for a quiet cup of exceptional coffee and a flaky pastry on the outdoor deck overlooking the river. Locals slip down for an indulgent breakfast before the daily hubbub of tourists, traffic and daily life overtake town.
Located next to the Ferry Street Park, Martine’s RiverHouse Restaurant & Bar has a beautiful view of the Delaware River from its dining room, bar and outdoor deck. The circa 1717 post and beam barn construction was used by the continental soldiers to keep an eye on enemy activities on the New Jersey side of the river. Enjoy a lovely meal and drink as you contemplate this historic site.
The Bucks County Playhouse is a memorable landmark when looking at New Hope shoreline from Lambertville in New Jersey. You can look back from the Playhouse Riverview Café located at the back of the Playhouse. The Riverview Café and Courtyard are open on performance days for your convenience before and after a show for drinks and a light snack.
Nektar Wine, Beer & Whiskey Bar at 8 W. Mechanic Street does not exactly overlook the river or the canal. Instead, it looks over the Cattaloosa Creek that runs under the canal on its way past the Playhouse (a former grist mill) to the Delaware River. Known for their varied selection of wine, cocktails and beer selections, they also offer small plates to complement the extensive drink menu.
This list will be updated as more new restaurants open in waterfront locations. This concludes the New Hope portion of our waterfront dining tour of Landmark Towns. Please continue the tour at Waterfront Dining-Morrisville, Yardley and Bristol for more dining with a view.
