The Bucks County Children’s Museum in New Hope is a great destination for families with little ones from one year to about 7 years old. The Museum is filled with hands-on activities and changing exhibits with special events scheduled throughout the year. Budget about 90 minutes for an average visit.
Lunch: On a sunny day, enjoy a picnic outside on the museum bench area. New Hope also boasts a large variety of restaurants within an easy walk from the museum.
After lunch: Delight your train buffs with an hourly excursion on the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad. Although they have a full line up of special events, an hour on a train may be enough excitement after a busy morning. From the train station where you purchase your tickets to the track you ride on to the authentic passenger cars and engines, this experience brings the history of railroad transportation alive for all ages.
Burn the last their energy: If your family still has energy to burn after your train trip, take a walk. Specifically, stroll the towpath along the D&L Trail along the Delaware Canal for a moment of quiet as the frogs and turtles clear the way for you. At Bridge Street, cross the bridge and return to the parking lot where you left your car and head on home.
