Landmark Towns of Bucks County is a program of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor. The towns are located along the Delaware Canal section of the D&L trail. From Bristol, the D&L Trail travels 165 miles along the Delaware Canal to Easton, along the Lehigh Canal to Jim Thorpe and along the former rail lines to Wilkes-Barre. This historic transportation route has national significance because of the anthracite coal and iron ore that was shipped along its length to fuel the industrial revolution.
On August 8, 2013, the National Canal Museum became an affiliate of the D&L. The D&L and the National Canal Museum together help to preserve and share the nationally significant stories and culture of our region, and build the trail that celebrates it.
