Landmark Towns - Explore Nature
Share

The Main Streets of the Landmark Towns are bustling with commerce, dining, community events and neighbors. A few steps off the commercial cores, visitors find an oasis of calm and quiet. But don’t be deceived. The neighbors there are just as bustling, each in their own way. The Delaware Canal and the surrounding areas are full of wildlife.

frog-blogTo learn about the rich ecosystem along the canal, sign up for one of the many programs offered by the Delaware Canal State Park. The environmental educators at Delaware Canal State Park take advantage of all the recreational, environmental and historical resources throughout the 60 mile-long park to share new and memorable experiences for all ages.

For example, they guide visitors kayaking and canoeing on the 90-acre Giving Pond, the Delaware Canal and the Delaware River. Visitors can learn the basics about handling a kayak or a canoe on the calmer waters before taking on a longer trip on the river. Learn about the many other paddling activities that are held from May through October at their event page.

The calendar of events is full of opportunities to participate in outdoor recreation with a knowledgeable guide. Try your hand at fishing, digital photography, wildlife and plant identification, hiking and biking all with a friendly, knowledgeable park educator. The list of year-round environmental programs is even more extensive.  Take a moment and find something you want to explore in the Delaware Canal State Park.
